The Lions Club of Leeton have been giving back to the Leeton community for over 52 years. There aren’t many community events that the Lions Club of Leeton isn’t involved in, weather they’re running a fundraising BBQ or operating their beloved Lions Train. All the money they raise annually goes back into the local community, so you could only imagine how much money they’ve raised over the many years of servicing the community!
So naturally, the club was very eager to come on board to participate in the Australian Art Deco Festival in any way, shape or form! So, we set them the challenge to put together an authentic 1920s breakfast menu for the ‘Ragtime Breakfast’ event – and they certainly have come to the party!
The club have been busy planning their authentic 1920s style breakfast which will take place in Mountford Park on Sunday 14 July from 8am. The billy tea will be hot and the eggs will be scrambled – did we mention they’re cooking on a campfire? It’s going to be awesome! You can purchase your $18 breakfast from our website or just pay on the day
The breakfast in the park will also feature the New Empire Ragtime Orchestra perform, so if you missed out on seeing them play at the Flappers and Felons Ball at the Roxy the night before, this is your chance, for free!
The Lions Club will also have their spectacular ‘Lions Train’ running to and from the Chelmsford Place Markets on the Saturday. They will be doing drop offs/pickups from the following locations:
- Chelmsford Place Taxi Rank
- Leeton No.1 Ovals Carpark (for those who can’t get a park nearby)
- Henry Lawson Cottage – we recommend hopping off to check out the old homestead. Geoffrey Graham will be disguised and performing as Henry Lawson himself throughout the day which is not to be missed! You can read more on this in one of our other blogs
We anticipate about a 15-minute round trip for those wanting to take advantage of the train.
Be sure to support the Lions Club of Leeton and come along to the Ragtime Breakfast in Mountford Park. Bring along a picnic rug and chairs to stick around and enjoy the entertainment by the New Empire Ragtime Orchestra, while the little ones enjoy the surroundings of our lovely park.
