Our Local Gems

Our town has so much local talent, so it would be a shame for us not to get some on board to perform at our festival! Rennie Simpson and Simone Crossley have been working collaboratively to put on some 1920s themed local entertainment. Rennie and Simone began working together through mutual friends and will be performing together at various events over the Art Deco Festival weekend.

Rennie has always been passionate about music, having been schooled by his mother and grandfather in the importance of music for happiness. He received his musical training at the Australian Institute of Music in 2003 and has since been mainly a backyard musician where his biggest fans are his two children who enjoy playing the drums and the piano while he stands back and gets told how to play!

Rennie played an integral role int the musical side of the Leeton production Grease is the Word in 2010. He is currently in the band “Groovology” based in Griffith and performs regularly at weddings and clubs. In between his music, he works as a retained fire fighter, swimming pool operator and occasionally dabbles in farm work.

Simone received her music education at the Conservatorium of music Wollongong. She is currently a teacher at Leeton High school and her passions lie with both teaching and music.

Musical theatre is her passion and is currently involved and many musical projects in and around the Griffith area. Simone has recently featured in multiple productions in the Griffith area; including the role of Glinda in Wicked and Belle in the Beauty and the Beast production. She also assisted with the local production of Legally Blonde and is involved in many bands and solo acts.
